2. Salvon Ahmed has bright future ahead

With Coleman suffering from a lack of production this season, freshman running back Salvon Ahmed has really picked up the pace. He rushed for 84 yards and one touchdown on only six carries in the win over Oregon.

Most of Ahmed’s 84 rushing yards came on a 58 yard carry. Head coach Chris Peterson should start showing more trust in Ahmed nearing the end of the regular season. He’s averaging an astounding 6.1 yards per carry on 49 attempts this year.

For a freshman running back in a very crowded backfield, Ahmed is putting together quite the first year in school. He’s also making a real case for the starting role whenever Gaskin departs the program.

We should see a heavy dose of Ahmed, Coleman, and Gaskin against Stanford. With Bryce Love in the backfield for the Cardinal, this matchup will be a battle of who can control the clock and convert on the opportunities given.
