1. Rebels will want to send Matt Luke out a winner

As much as the players might want it, and as much as a certain percentage of the fanbase might want Luke to remain and be the full time coach, it just doesn’t seem likely. Luke has done an incredible job with the hand he was dealt, I mean he took over two weeks before fall camp. It won’t shock me to see Luke land a head coaching job somewhere after the season but I just don’t think it will be at Ole Miss.

With that said, the players and the coaches are still playing and coaching for that scenario to happen. Which is why the players will be giving their all for Luke and the rest of the coaching staff in the Egg Bowl.

Matt Luke is a Rebel. He played at Ole Miss, was a graduate assistant at Ole Miss and has been at Ole Miss since 2012 as a part of Hugh Freeze’s staff. Luke was an obvious choice to be the interim coach. He knows what the Egg Bowl rivalry means to the university and to the state. He knows what it means to the team and he’ll know how to properly motivate for this game.

Expect Luke to do all he can to set the Rebels up to win this game. As well as for the players to do all they can to get him a win in what could be his last game as the Rebel head coach.
