ACC Football Power Rankings 2017: Clemson takes over top spot
By Dana Becker
Lamar Jackson almost got tossed, but the reigning Heisman winner was able to remain active and help lead Louisville past Kentucky for its eighth victory of the season.
The Cardinals went just 4-4 in the ACC, but with Jackson at the helm, they will be a strong contender for a good bowl.
Jackson helped lead Louisville to three consecutive wins to close out the season, racking up 40 combined touchdowns.
It wasn’t always easy or pretty, but NC State ended up second in the Atlantic division behind Clemson with a 6-2 league mark.
The Wolfpack won eight games, going 5-1 at home. That included a win in the regular season finale over North Carolina.
Ryan Finley continues to run the offense with minimal mistakes, getting the likes of Nyheim Hines and Jaylen Samuels in open spaces.
If you don’t know who AJ Dillon is, you better figure it out.
Dillon, a 240-pound freshman, recorded his fourth straight 100-yard rushing day in a win over Syracuse this past weekend. He has went over that mark six times this year, including twice recording 200 yards or more.
The Eagles definitely have some nice pieces to work with and build on following a 7-5 season that included back-to-back wins to end it.
At Virginia Tech, competing for the ACC title is almost expected.
While the Hokies will miss out on that this season, they were able to steady the boat late in the year, winning their last two to finish 9-3 and alone in third overall.
Virginia Tech allowed a conference-low 121 games in eight league games, going 5-1 at home.
