10. Chris Ash, Rutgers

  • 2017 record: 4-8 (3-5)
  • 2018 B1G recruiting class rank: 11 of 14

It has been an absolute nightmare for Rutgers football and their fans since joining the Big Ten Conference, but things are beginning to look upward for head coach Chris Ash and his players.

The Scarlet Knights still have a long way to go until they are competing for a division title in the tough Big Ten East, but the team is fresh off their best season yet in the Big Ten and although they failed to make a bowl game yet again, the team was competitive in a good portion of their losses, and even managed to take fifth in the East, a clear improvement from their winless season in 2016.

Another first year coach, Ash has proven he is ready to take the Knights to the next left and has shown impressive signs taking on what is likely the hardest program in the Big Ten to rebuild at this time.

Like the others in the league, it will take a few years to see where Ash really sits amongst his counterparts in the Big Ten, but if there is one thing to be positive about for Ash, his team, and the rest of the Scarlet Knights faithful is that the leap forward he has taken so far is a sign for better things to come.
