Big Ten Football: Power Ranking every Big Ten coach
8. Scott Frost, Nebraska
- 2018 B1G recruiting class rank: 9 of 14
Putting newly acquired Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Scott Frost ahead of some of the others on this list may be a stretch because, well, Frost has yet to coach a game as a Big Ten coach.
Solely looking at the job Frost did at Central Florida proves he has what it takes to take control of a program like Nebraska that is used to success and return it to glory. Just two seasons ago at UCF, the Knights were 0-12 and even had local bars offering free drinks until the team won a game. Today, in 2017, UCF has concluded a perfect 13-0 season and a Peach Bowl victory over SEC powerhouse Auburn. The school has even self-pronounced themselves national champions having finished the season as the only undefeated team in all of FBS.
Frost will take over a Nebraska team that missed their first bowl game since 2011 and finished just 4-8 on the year. While the Huskers have not been the powerhouse they are used to back in the 1990s or even when they joined the Big Ten, the program has often found themselves competitive against teams who severely overmatch them. To finish off 2017, Nebraska gave up 50+ in four of their final five games and endured five double-digit losses in conference play. In fact, their only loss that was not by double digits in Big Ten play was a 31-24 loss to Northwestern at home.
Heading into next season, expectations will certainly begin to grow with Frost taking over, but do not be surprised to see some growing pains from the get-go as the Big Ten is a treacherous conference to try to rebuild in.
