2018 NFL Mock Draft: Complete first round post NFL Combine
Needs: Edge, OG, CB
The 49ers are currently under the control of John Lynch. Lynch, a former NFL pro bowl safety, is a Stanford graduate and left the broadcast booth to right the 49ers sinking ship. In his first draft in 2017, Lynch pulled a brilliant coup trading San Francisco’s No. 2 overall pick and turning it into Solomon Thomas and Rueben Foster in the first round.
Lynch then traded for Patriots’ backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo who subsequently led the 49ers to a 5-0 record in his first five stats. Garoppolo got paid this offseason to the tune of five years and $137.5 million.
With quarterback locked up for the foreseeable future, Lynch must turn his attention to the defense which was once the building block of the 49ers dynasty. The 49ers have a franchise running back in Carlos Hyde and will focus on drafting another genetic freak in Tremaine Edmunds out of Virginia Tech. Edmunds measured in at 6-foot-5 and 253 pounds while running a 4.54 in the 40-yard dash. Thomas, Foster and Edmunds make a dynamic trio on defense.
