The kicking game is one area that the Buffs have excelled at, even in 2017, as they finished 12th in the S&P+ in special teams. If the defense can improve while the offense stays average that could mean the Buffs steal a win or two.

The Colorado Buffaloes schedule is not conducive to having a less than stellar output. Quarterback Steven Montez and the Buffs will need strong play to beat rival Colorado State on the road followed by a trip to Lincoln to face the Cornhuskers. Nebraska has a new coach and roster turnover but don’t count Scott Frost‘s Huskers out. A home game against New Hampshire is followed by an early bye week.

The Buffs do have the luxury of winning in front of their home crowd at Folsom Field as they host New Hampshire, UCLA and new coach Chip Kelly as well as Arizona State and new coach Herm Edwards in a row over the four-week span.

A tough road duo in USC and Washington are followed by a home game against lowly Oregon State. The Buffs then head to Arizona and new coach Kevin Sumlin‘s offense led by Khalil Tate before hosting Mike Leach’s Cougars. The season ends with a home game against pesky Utah and a road trip to improving Cal Berkley.

Prediction: 5-7
