The Tigers have one of the strongest schedules and close contests are won in the kicking game. The Tigers must improve upon their 61st ranked special teams per the S&P+ rankings. Malzahn’s staff put together the SEC’s 3rd ranked recruiting class which was good for 12th in the country per 247 Sports.
Luckily for Auburn, the Washington game is a neutral site contest and almost a home game as it’s being played in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA. After that tough contest the Tigers will play Alabama State in an easy contest before hosting LSU a week later.
In a string of four home games Auburn then hosts Arkansas and Southern Miss before hitting the road to travel to Mississippi State and new head coach Joe Moorhead. The Tigers then host The Volunteers before traveling to Oxford, MS to take on Ole Miss before the bye week.
After the bye, Auburn hosts Texas A&M and new coach Jimbo Fisher before a road trip to Athens, GA to play the Bulldogs between the hedges. A late-season FCS week against Liberty at home leads to the Iron Bowl matchup in Tuscaloosa, AL against the Crimson Tide. Auburn hasn’t defeated Alabama in back-to-back games since the 2006-2007 seasons.
Prediction: 10-2
