Washington Football: 5 reasons the Huskies will take down Auburn Week 1
1. The game is being played at a neutral site
While Washington will officially play as the away team against Auburn, the game is slated to be played in Atlanta, a neutral site, as opposed to at Auburn’s Jordan Hare Stadium.
In all likelihood, Auburn might have the upper hand fan-wise because of its much closer proximity to Georgia but the Huskies will benefit from not playing a true away game.
In the past two seasons, Washington has lost five times — and only two of those defeats came at true away game sites.
The Huskies will look to turn around their stretch of two games in which they lost at neutral sites. In 2016, Washington succumbed to Alabama at the Georgia Dome, which is essentially the same location it will be playing against Auburn on Saturday.
While Washington has played very well at home, it hasn’t had as much success playing on the road whether it be in a true away environment or at a neutral site.
A win against Auburn on the complete opposite side of the country will allow the Huskies to check off the boxes of attaining a big-time win and an away victory all in one trip.
