Oklahoma State Football: 5 bold predictions for October 2018
1. Pokes go undefeated at home in October
This October slate for the Pokes is hard to figure out how difficult it will actually be. Texas looks as if it could make a run for Big 12 Title contention this year and potentially even the College Football Playoff. Kansas State and Iowa State aren’t what people expected them to be, but each should still be a good test for Oklahoma State.
The only game that Oklahoma State is likely to be an underdog for, unless things change rapidly in the Big 12, is against Texas on Oct. 27. Even though Oklahoma State gets Texas at home, this is a much different looking team on the Forty Acres under head coach Tom Herman.
Oklahoma State could get off on the right foot with the home win over Iowa State on Oct. 6. Whether Oklahoma State wins on the road against Kansas State isn’t too relevant to this point. But, Oklahoma State should be able to snag another win in Manhattan if it shows out nicely against a down Kansas State squad.
How this month turns out for Oklahoma State will define what happens for them in the gauntlet portion of the 2018 schedule come November. Oklahoma State gets the Oklahoma Sooners, TCU Horned Frogs, and West Virginia Mountaineers all in the month of November, so heading into that part of the schedule with more than two losses could be detrimental for the result of the entire 2018 campaign.
