DT. Michigan Wolverines. Rashan Gary. 5. player. 50.

How big is the talent gap between Rashan Gary and Ed Oliver? Gary was the 247 Sports number one overall player coming out of high school, and he has been an anchor on the Wolverines stout defensive line.

Gary made an immediate impact as a true freshman, playing in all 12 games for the Wolverines and finishing the season with 23 tackles. His sophomore season he turned things up a notch, and he racked up 58 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss and five and a half sacks.

The Wolverines defense has picked up steam after getting off to a slow start, and Gary currently has 18 tackles and two sacks in 2018.

The Lions defense is changing under new head coach Matt Patricia, and we know the Patriots defenses were always good when they had a strong defensive line up front.

Detroit has the worst rushing defense in the league and it isn’t even close, as they have given up over 157 yards per game on the ground heading into Week 5 of the NFL season.

If Patricia and the Lions can pick up the talented defensive tackle, it could be the turning point the franchise needs to get back into playoff contention.
