2019 NFL Mock Draft: Projecting the first round after Week 6
The Giants took a chance on Eli Manning still having something left in the tank for 2018 and drafted Saquon Barkley with the number two overall pick in last year’s draft. This offseason they don’t make the same mistake twice, and draft one of the most promising signal callers in the draft in Drew Lock.
The Missouri product balled out last season, throwing 44 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions and nearly 4,000 passing yards on the season. The Tigers like to chuck the ball down the field (the team averaged 9.5 yards per attempt in 2017), and Lock’s arm strength will be needed in one of the windiest stadiums in the NFL.
So far this season the Tigers are 3-2 and Lock has thrown 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.
The Giants need a quarterback they can build their future around, and the offense clearly isn’t scaring anybody with Eli Manning still calling the shots. A young quarterback that can get the ball to Odell Beckham Jr. and one of the most promising young tailbacks we have seen enter the league since Adrian Peterson? Sounds like an easy choice from the outside looking in.
