Taylor is college football’s Beast Mode

Wisconsin’s star running back, Jonathan Taylor, has carried the Badgers offense this entire year. Tonight was no different. Taylor entered the game third in the country in rushing yards with 849 including eight touchdowns in only five games. Furthermore, Taylor was second in yards after contact in college football.

By halftime, he had 79 yards on 11 carries. In the second half, things slowed down for Taylor, but that was more a result of Wisconsin playing from behind and Michigan’s high time of possession. Had the game been closer, Taylor would have been given the ball much more. Still, he finished the game over 100 yards on only 17 carries.

Taylor’s ability to get hit, stay on his feet, and continue to gain ground is what makes him NFL ready. It may be a stretch for him to go in the first round of the draft. However, if he does end up as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, he might sneak into the top 32 picks. This is unlikely given Wisconsin’s performance as a team. Regardless, he will be more than capable of making an immediate contribution to any NFL team.
