Group of Five Power Rankings, Week 7: AAC and MWC lead race
By Zach Bigalke
Buffalo opened the back half of their 2018 regular season by reaching bowl eligibility at home on Saturday. The Bulls easily dispatched Akron 24-6, as Zips quarterback Kato Nelson went just 12-of-29 for 115 yards and an interception. The Akron offense managed just 235 yards total as a group against the Bulls.
In the same game, three different Bulls ran for at least 50 yards. Jaret Patterson put up 91 yards and a score, Kevin Marks added 64 yards, and quarterback Tyree Jackson finished with 57 yards and a rushing touchdown. Jackson added 212 yards with a score and a pick through the air on 16-of-30 passing.
Buffalo is the only team remaining in the MAC with only one loss, and as a result they jump up into the Group of Five Power Rankings this week as a dark-horse for the New Year’s Six bid. The Bulls travel to Toledo next weekend before closing out the month after their bye with an early Week 9 game at home against Miami of Ohio the day before Halloween.
