Group of Five Power Rankings, Week 7: AAC and MWC lead race
By Zach Bigalke
Appalachian State jumped up a few spots in the Group of Five Power Rankings after their 35-9 demolition of Arkansas State to kick off Week 7 action on Tuesday. The Mountaineers actually fell behind 3-0 in the first quarter, gave up another field goal early in the second quarter, and took the lead again at 9-7 with less than five minutes before halftime.
Then Scott Satterfield’s squad ripped off 28 unanswered to run away with the victory on the road. Darrynton Evans led the way on the ground with 115 rushing yard and a touchdown. Zac Thomas went 12-of-27 for 144 passing yards and two scores while adding another touchdown on the ground to go with 76 rushing yards. And Jalin Moore got in on the action as well, racking up the last touchdown for App State.
Already in the Group of Five Power Rankings after Week 6, Appalachian State moved up a few spots after their latest win. The Mountaineers take on Louisiana next Saturday, then get a short rest before their Thursday night showdown for Sun Belt supremacy against Georgia Southern on October 25.
