Utah State followed up their Week 6 demolition of BYU with another lopsided victory on Saturday, this time over conference opponent UNLV. The Aggies pummeled the Rebels 59-28, routing their visitors as they racked up nearly 600 yards of offense. Though the defense coughed up over 400 yards to UNLV, the visitors were overrun by a superior opponent.

Jordan Love carved up the Rebels secondary, racking up 322 yards and five touchdowns on 17-of-23 passing. Love left the game with more than 20 minutes left before the final whistle. Henry Colombi took over and went 5-of-8 for an extra 55 yards. No one running back went over 100 yards, but as a group the backfield finished with 221 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 38 carries.

As the only team left in the MWC Mountain that is still undefeated in conference play, the Aggies are the front-runner in the division ahead of Boise State. As long as they keep the zero in the loss column in Mountain West play and maintain only one loss overall, they will remain a contender for the Group of Five spot in a New Year’s Six bowl this year. They hit the road to face Wyoming in Week 8.
