UCLA Football: 5 reasons the Bruins will upset Utah in Week 9
3. Dorian Thompson-Robinson should be healthy
What a roller-coaster season it’s been for freshman quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Getting thrown into the fire right away likely wasn’t expected for the young dual-threat, but that’s what happens when the new head coach is high on you and you show more promise than the starter that ended the 2017 season, Devon Modster.
Unfortunately, Thompson-Robinson suffered an injury in UCLA’s game against Arizona, but is likely to go on Friday night against the Utes. That’s bad news for Utah and music to Chip Kelly’s ears.
Thompson-Robinson has been practicing all week and Kelly has even said his freshman starter is ‘good to go’ but we will see if he sticks with the ailing quarterback or Michigan transfer Wilton Speight. My guess is it will be the talented freshman because he gives this team its best chance to win.
If Thompson-Robinson is healthy enough to go, that has to throw a wrench in Utah’s plans. They may have been expecting Speight, but they’ll be in for a rude awakening.
UCLA will get a strong performance from its freshman sensation on Friday night and he’ll look much healthier than anticipated.
