2. The Buffs miss Phillip Lindsay

Former Colorado running back Phillip Lindsay didn’t need to go far to fulfill his NFL dreams. The Buffs’ star tailback is now the leading rusher for the Denver Broncos, dazzling many on an even bigger stage. Fans and players are undoubtedly happy to see his success, but it comes at the expense of the roster as it’s currently constructed.

Lindsay carried the ball 301 times for 1,474 yards and 14 touchdowns, adding 257 yards and another touchdown on 23 receptions. That’s a massive amount of production to replace and it’s showing.

Travon McMillian has stepped up to fill his shoes. He’s carried 158 times for 837 yards and five touchdowns. He’s been solid for the Buffs, but he hasn’t been a game breaker. Instead, the burden of the offense has fallen on quarterback Steven Montez. His 18 touchdown to nine interception ratio hasn’t been enough to get the Buffs over the hump, especially against some of the tougher defenses in the conference.
