player. 32. . Defensive Tackle. Houston Cougars. Ed Oliver. 2

It has been a tossup between Ed Oliver and Nick Bosa as the consensus number one overall pick all season long. Oliver has looked like the number one overall pick since setting foot on campus for Houston while Bosa developed into an absolute pass rusher for the Buckeyes.

In our first set of preseason Heisman rankings, I predicted that Oliver would need to put up if phenomenal season to stay in the race for the trophy. He has been as good as advertised for the Cougars defense as he is averaging nine tackles per game for a defense ranked 61st in the country against the run.

This is even with double and triple teams against him. Arizona has playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, and the quarterback of the future in Josh Rosen.

It would be too much of a reach to go for a wide receiver or a defensive back at this spot (with Patrick Peterson looking to move on), and while they do not have an immediate need for defensive line help with Chandler Jones and Robert Nkemdiche as a dominant duo on the line.

The Cards can select Oliver and have their anchor at defensive tackle for the next decade.
