Top 20 most tortured college football fan bases in 2018
Since joining the Pac-12 South less than a decade ago, the Colorado Buffaloes stayed out of the basement in the division standings just once. There was a magical run back in 2016 along the way for what has been a mostly gloomy tenure under head coach Mike MacIntyre. That was the only 10-win season for the Buffs since leaving the Big 12.
Colorado does hold a somewhat recent national title that came back during another magical run back in 1991. The national title provides a little bit of relief for this program and fan base for something to look back on. Yet, the on the field results now deliver some anger and impatience for the fans in Boulder.
Making that decision to leave the Big 12 doesn’t look too great right now for Colorado since the Pac-12 run doesn’t treat this team well. Colorado does have some potential with the recruiting base out of the state of Colorado. But, the roller coaster ride that this team sees year in and year out is hard to follow and stick with.
A solid start to the 2018 season came to a sliding halt for Colorado in the past few weeks that most recently includes a loss to the Arizona Wildcats. This team could be on pace for another last place finish in the Pac-12 South when the outlook was pretty bright for the first five games of the regular season. The pressure on MacIntyre is still building on one of the hotter seats for any head coach in the nation.
