2. Charles Moore (SDE/Louisville, MS) — 4 Stars

It’s been tough to get a read on the four-star Mississippi defensive end since he de-committed from Mississippi State earlier this month. Charles Moore immediately named Auburn his favorite after that, but quickly changed his mind and put Florida on top after an official visit to Gainesville.

What he is going to do is anybody’s guess, but he has a couple of more official visits currently in the works that could sway him away from both Auburn and Florida. Moore is slated to be in Tallahassee this weekend to visit Florida State, and is planning a final visit to Baton Rouge to see LSU on the first weekend of February.

Moore has taken more visits to Auburn than anywhere else, but the Tigers could be falling behind for the four-star product, especially if they can’t convince him to come back to the Plains before signing day.

Of the uncommitted prospects still out there, Moore is the highest ranked guy that Auburn is on the prowl for. The 6-foot-4 268 pound defensive end is ranked as the fourth best prospect coming out of the state of Mississippi and No. 69 in the 247 composite rankings.

Auburn lost a pair of rotational players on the defensive line to graduation this year, and will lose a couple of more after next season, making defensive line an area of priority during this recruiting cycle.

Auburn has three defensive ends already signed in this class, but Moore has the size and frame to play on the outside or the interior of the line. His versatility makes him a coveted prospect.

It’s impossible to get a read on a player like Moore because he has consistently changed his mind over the last few weeks. That’s the business of recruiting, though.

Auburn should be feeling okay about their chances, but Malzahn needs to turn up the heat and attempt to land another visit from him before signing day or he could see Moore slip right out of his grasp and into the hands of an SEC rival.
