QB. Ohio State . Dwayne Haskins. 6. player. 31.

I still believe that Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins is the draft’s top quarterback, but there’s a chance now that he isn’t the first quarterback off the board with the continued rise of Kyler Murray.

Haskins is your prototypical NFL passer, regardless of what Stephen A. Smith thinks. He’s not all that mobile (as evidenced by his 40-time being over five seconds), but he’s a big-armed passer who can make all the throws on the field.

He only started one season in Columbus, but he was immediately elite, leading the nation with 50 touchdown passes and dragging a flawed Buckeyes roster to the Big Ten Championship and a victory in the Rose Bowl, coming just one spot shy of a berth in the College Football Playoff.

Haskins looked good throwing at the combine, showing off his arm strength and his accuracy. He’s likely to benefit from a “redshirt” season in the NFL, leading to the possibility of the Giants keeping Eli Manning around for one more season in the Big Apple. I don’t think the Giants can afford to pass on a quarterback for a second straight season, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see them target a trade up in order to secure either Haskins or Murray on draft day.

New York could also target an edge rusher or an offensive lineman with this pick if the top quarterbacks are off the board or if they would rather look at filling that need in free agency or with a short-term option to target one in the 2020 draft.

If Haskins is available, though, I don’t see how he isn’t the pick for the Giants.
