Although he wasn’t exactly the most highly sought-after recruit or highly-touted prospect in UCLA’s 2018 class, Otito Ogbonnia burst onto the scene with 21 tackles as a true freshman and had an impact right away.

Did he break out? I wouldn’t go that far, which is why he’s on this list, but he set himself up for a strong sophomore season.

The former three-star defensive tackle from Katy, Texas, has drawn plenty of hype this offseason and he’s been pegged by many as a guy who could rise up the depth chart and take control on the defensive line. He’s widely considered a breakout candidate so is this a safe pick? Absolutely, but it’s hard not to pick it when you’re so confident it’ll happen.

The sophomore defensive lineman is a monster, standing 6-foot-4 and weighing in at about 315 pounds, but he’s toning up as he’s spending more time with the Bruins. Oh yeah, and he’s a shotput star for the UCLA track team so strength isn’t an issue.

This kid is on the rise, there’s no question about it.
