It is, once again, tough to find many wins on the UConn schedule. The Huskies should defeat Wagner, but beyond that it becomes difficult. They get Illinois at home, but despite being 4-8 a year ago, the Illini had a 55-31 win over Minnesota and were able to put up a fight against good Big Ten teams like Northwestern and Wisconsin.
One of the few winnable matchups is the Oct. 26 trip to UMass. The Minutemen went 4-8 last season, and will be adjusting with new coach Walt Bell.
Prediction: 2-10 (0-8)
Randy Edsall’s team faces an uphill battle in 2019. While playing a schedule full of teams more talented than the Huskies, the distraction of the future of the program lingers overhead.
The improvement for UConn should display itself in how games play out. They’ll try to limit the 55-14 and 62-7 scores they saw last season, and play more competitive football in 2019.
It is unlikely that UConn will find a bowl game this season, but expect them to improve on their 1-11 record from a year ago.
