2. Feleipe Franks, Jarren Williams must be nearly perfect

Plain and simple, Feleipe Franks and Jarren Williams have to play next level for their respective teams to have any chance to win their games.

The knock on Franks is his accuracy and leadership. True, he completed only 58 percent of his passes last year, but you have to like the 4-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. That completion percentage might not be much higher against Miami, but the way he handles adversity during this game is more important. He will be behind an inexperienced offensive line, and the Hurricanes are going to throw the kitchen sink at it and Franks.

How will he handle being knocked down for four quarters? How will he handle going three-and-out and playing field position for stretches of the game? What will his body language be walking off the field toward the sidelines and on the bench around his teammates? These are the intangible things Gator fans should look for in this game.

Franks has a next level skill set, but he’s going to need next level leadership for the Gators to win this game.

For Miami, Williams, a redshirt freshman quarterback, is going to have to play beyond his years. He’s talented — he was the fifth-ranked quarterback and a four-star recruit out of Georgia in 2018 — but he’s thrown a grand total of three passes in his college career.

Both Lamical Perine and DeeJay Dallas figure to be large parts of their teams’ offenses on Friday night, but this game is going to come down to who makes a play throwing the ball, and the quarterback who can level up will lead their team to victory.
