1. Florida took most chances, and that’s what won the game

In a defensive battle, it’s clear that Dan Mullen was willing to take the chances necessary to win the game. Florida was 4-for-4 on fourth down conversions, including a fake punt on the first drive that set the tone for their performance.

The offense also wasn’t afraid to take its shots against a strong Miami secondary, with Feleipe Franks’ beautiful 65-yard pass to Josh Hammond led to the game-winning touchdown.

Those chances were the difference, as Miami, with a first-year coach, first-year starting quarterback and young offensive line, rightfully chose to play conservative.

Jarren Williams only threw for 7.3 yards per pass, and the biggest play of the game was a 50-yard touchdown run from running back Deejay Dallas. They held tough in the game, and proved that they can play with anyone. But to beat the truly elite teams in the country, taking chances to win the game is essential, and Miami wasn’t able to do that.

In the end, Florida showed flashes of an elite team, but still has significant areas to improve as they continue to have aspirations to be among the top of the SEC ranks.
