Since the Aggies came into the SEC, this matchup has been a big catalyst for things to come in Auburn. 2012 saw the Tigers suffer a blowout loss on the way to a 3-9 season and the firing of Gene Chizik. The 2013 win in College Station was the game that signaled Auburn’s ability to play and win big games, and they would go all the way to a close loss in the BCS title game. The 2014 loss after a late turnover was the beginning of that season’s unraveling.

More from Auburn Tigers

If Auburn can get a win in this game, it should be a signal of similar importance. These Aggies, led by Kellen Mond, took Clemson down to the wire last season. Mond was fourth in the SEC in total offense, and behind him, Jimbo Fisher’s Aggies have high hopes in 2019.

Kyle Field is one of the toughest places to play in the nation, and this Aggie team will be very good. Mond eclipsed the 3,000-yard mark in 2018, and he is poised for a huge junior season.

The Aggie defense, led by Mike Elko, was third in the nation against the run last year. Auburn’s freshman passer will be forced to go win this game, and in this instance, that may be too much to ask.

Prediction: Loss (3-1, 0-1 SEC)
