College Football: 3 true freshmen making names for themselves in 2019
By Brian Miller
In high school, Hank Bachmeier threw for over 13,000 yards and was rated by Rivals to be the sixth-best pro-style quarterback in his class, so it’s not too much of a surprise to see him playing so well. That said, not many people could have predicted he’d have one of the most impressive collegiate debuts in recent memory by throwing for over 400 yards and orchestrating an 18-point comeback against Florida State on the road.
A lot of freshman quarterbacks might struggle the following week after coming off of such an emotional win, but Hank proved to be prepared and poised in his Week 2 matchup against Marshall.
While this game had considerably less drama than the previous week it still shared a common theme — one where the Broncos give up the first score, but then go on to shut out their opponent for much of the remainder of the game. In Week 1, they shut out FSU for the entire second half and in Week 2 they managed to shut out Marshall in the last three quarters.
Like most years, Bosie State looks strong while their schedule looks weak. It should be interesting to see if the Broncos have what it takes to run the table if, but even if they do it’s highly unlikely we’ll see them in the playoffs. Either way, Bachmeier is definitely a player to keep an eye on going forward.
