2. Sawyer Smith played well for Kentucky

The transfer from Troy stepped in for an injured Terry Wilson who is out with a knee injury that has knocked him out for the season. With Franks, that makes three SEC East quarterbacks out for the year with injuries. Many Kentucky fans seemed unsure of what the matchup with Florida would bring without Terry Wilson, but overall — even though they lost — the Wildcats didn’t look all that bad on offense.

He finished 21-for-28 for 251 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Yeah, the interceptions weren’t exactly great, even though one came in the final seconds on a desperation throw, but overall Smith looked extremely good and was able to lead his offense to a near win over highly ranked Florida. Had his kicker made that field goal with less than a minute left, who knows if we would be talking about a loss anyway.

Kentucky is in pretty good hands for the rest of this season with Smith under center. He has a strong running back in AJ Rose and Kavosiey Smith and some great receivers in Wagner and Bowden. Don’t count the Wildcats out as this season continues on.
