3. Auburn at Texas A&M (Sept. 21 at 3:30 p.m. ET – CBS)

This game should help create some early clarity in the SEC West. While Alabama and LSU look like the favorites, whoever emerges victorious here will have the right to be the third team in the discussion for SEC West favorites. That by itself is an incredible statement.

Both teams are already battle-tested at this point. Auburn played and won a classic against Oregon in Week 1, and Texas A&M has already played and lost to Clemson. You would be hard-pressed to find a tougher start to a season for these two teams who now have to face each other.

This will not be the last we talk about either the Tigers or Aggies in this series this year. With the SEC being as loaded as it is, these teams will be a part of many marquee games throughout the year. Therefore, there are plenty of opportunities to build that playoff resume up for both Auburn and Texas A&M. If any of the teams mentioned in this post today can afford a loss, it’s whoever loses this one.

The quarterback battle will be front and center this week. Freshman Bo Nix going toe to toe with Kellen Mond should be a spectacular watch for football fans. There are potential Heisman ramifications here if one of them explodes for a huge game and the winning team should be comfortably in the top 10 moving forward.
