Florida Football: 3 overreactions to dominant win over Tennessee
2. Kyle Trask may actually be who this team needed all along
When Feleipe Franks went down with a season-ending injury against Kentucky, all seemed lost. Fans were ready to throw in the towel and call the 2019 season an inevitable failure.
While Franks wasn’t exactly a Heisman contender or even a top-three quarterback in the SEC, he was reliable for the most part and had plenty of game experience. But then Kyle Trask got the call and led the Gators to a come-from-behind victory over Kentucky and then he helped dominate Tennessee in Week 4.
As a starter Trask is 1-0, but for all intents and purposes, we can just view him as a 2-0 quarterback because he led the comeback victory over Kentucky last week.
Everyone was interested to see if he could carry that impressive first performance over into a home rivalry game against the Volunteers, and he did just that, passing for 293 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-point victory.
Maybe Trask is who this team needed at quarterback all along.
