Florida Football: 3 takeaways from easy win over Towson in Week 5
1. Kyle Trask is Mr. Reliable
You might not look at Kyle Trask and think “he’s an elite passer” but he’s been one of the more reliable quarterbacks thrust into action of any in the country.
Not many guys can come in while losing to an SEC foe on the road and lead a comeback victory and then dominate Tennessee the following week before sleepwalking his way to an 18-for-20 performance against Towson. He’s not only accurate but he doesn’t make silly mistakes.
Through Week 5, he has 647 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions. Even more impressive is the fact that his completion percentage was around 72 heading into the Towson game and he completed 90 percent of his throws against the Tigers.
If you’re down a starting quarterback, you have the perfect scenario with Trask leading the way and Emory Jones backing him up.
Worst-case scenario has been averted as the Gators have ensured that the loss of Franks hasn’t derailed the season.
