3. Oregon State has life

Oregon State has gone through an incredibly tough last few seasons. Winning four total games in the last three years including 2019 and getting off to a rocky start even this year. At home against a struggling Stanford team, Oregon State showed some life on offense that we haven’t seen from the Beavers in quite some time.

The Beavers compiled 501 yards of total offense and mounted a comeback late in the fourth quarter that few saw coming. Senior quarterback Jake Luton looked like the real deal on Saturday, compiling 337 yards through the air and adding a touchdown. Luton has looked great overall in 2019 throwing nine touchdowns and no interceptions in just four games of play so far.

We should see the Beavers play a much more competitive role for the rest of the year in the PAC-12. The only problem is they have a gauntlet of a conference schedule coming up, with Washington, Utah, and Cal coming up in the next four weeks. If they can play these games close, they should be able to shock one or two teams down the stretch and could even make the in-state rivalry game against Oregon close.

They have a lot to improve on before then. At the very least, we know Oregon State has finally shown some signs of life.
