1. Change may be warranted in East Lansing

The Michigan State offense can look vanilla and lack creativity at times. This was evident last season, so head coach Mark Dantonio decided to make some changes to his staff — well sort of. He didn’t fire anyone on his offensive staff but rather he shuffled his offensive coaches.

Brad Salem was promoted to sole offensive coordinator while last years’ co-coordinators Dave Warner and Jim Bollman were demoted to position coaches.

To say it hasn’t worked this season would be an understatement. Granted, they’ve scored over 30 points three times this season, but those opponents weren’t necessarily a murderer’s row of opponents (Western Michigan, Northwestern and Indiana). When they’ve faced good to elite defenses, they’ve scored seven (Arizona State), 10 (Ohio State) and zero (Wisconsin).

Coach Dantonio consider’s himself a “foxhole guy” and that’s great, but since you can’t recruit better players, maybe you need a system that best accentuates your players.  The offense you are running isn’t working very well.
