After a bumpy performance in their biggest rivalry game of the season, Jalen Hurts was looking to clean up some things this past week. I think it’s safe to say he did just that. Against West Virginia, Hurts scored five total touchdowns.

Hurts only had one incompletion on the day through his 17 passes, scoring three of his five touchdowns through the air. It wasn’t because the Sooners were playing passive, though. He had over 300 passing yards.

On the ground, Hurts led the team in rushing yards again. He scored twice on 10 carries for 75 total yards. Honestly, Hurts is just doing everything you could want from him at this point in the season. If he had another marquee game in front of him, he might even control his own destiny. The only problems is that few people are watching Sooners games against the worst teams in the Big 12. This game isn’t going to be the one that puts him at the front of the Heisman rankings.

The best thing that could happen for Hurts is for Baylor to continue to win. At least a battle of unbeaten teams would be interesting. Anything to get more eyes on Sooners games.
