Joe Burrow gets another week of leading the pack for the Heisman Trophy. In all honesty, it was just going to take a quality game from Burrow to keep him in front. Without any other frontrunner playing in a huge game, the stats almost feel empty for these guys this week. Nonetheless, Burrow had a good game against Mississippi State.

LSU didn’t look perfect against the Bulldogs in the hostile environment, but they did more than enough to seal the win. On the offensive side, Burrow threw for four touchdowns and over 300 yards.

Burrow was less mobile than usual in this one, but that aspect of his game was not needed for the Tigers to succeed. He also had a fumble, but it was not lost. All in all, it was not a perfect game. That being said, I liked a lot that I saw from Burrow against the Bulldogs. It speaks well to how they will play in their future challenges.

LSU will go up against Auburn at home next week, being one of the many big games of the week. This will be their last test before they get to travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama.

It’s this simple. If Joe Burrow beats Alabama on the road in two weeks, he will be the clear frontrunner for the Heisman. Until that game is played, there will be a few other people in this race. Burrow could be out of contention in a matter of weeks, or he could be the clear-cut favorite. That’s why we play the games.
