2. Jake Fromm has regressed

The offense under Kirby Smart has predicated itself on a trustworthy game-manager who can make the throws needed to move the chains. Fromm has proven better than that in the past, making his meager 2019 all the more confusing.

While transfer Justin Fields lights up the scoreboard at Ohio State, Georgia’s incumbent starting quarterback has struggled. Fromm’s lone multi-touchdown game this season came against Tennessee.

He hasn’t thrown for 300 yards yet this season and has fewer passing touchdowns on the season than Kyle Trask and Jarrett Guarantano. He’s thrown one more than Ryan Hilinski and two more than Nick Starkel and Garrett Shrader — none of those four have been the starting quarterback at their respective school for the entire season. Fromm has been the guy from the start.

Fromm might very well be a highly regarded NFL Draft prospect. He might have the intangibles needed to be a successful quarterback at the highest level of the sport someday down the road. But right now, Fromm has been absolutely average. And that’s not good enough to beat Florida, not this year.
