2. Kyle Pitts quietly becoming one of nation’s top tight ends

Not many tight ends can look as comfortable running routes as Kyle Pitts has this season. The sophomore from Abington, Penn., had a quiet freshman season and was lightly used, but he stepped up and has taken the SEC by storm this season.

When we talk about the nation’s top tight ends, Pitts’ name doesn’t come up enough.

Coming into Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt, Pitts had 469 yards and four touchdowns on 39 catches and while he didn’t have a huge afternoon against the Commodores, he had yet another consistent performance, catching three passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. That puts him at over 40 catches and 500 yards on the season with five touchdown catches — not too shabby from a tight end.

Each week I am impressed by the sophomore tight end and he might just be the most surprising star at the position in college football this season.

Pitts runs routes like a receiver, has plenty of athleticism and is a tough cover for linebackers. He’s a defense’s worst nightmare and is only getting better.
