The Mountaineers return to the watch after a combination of Navy’s blow out loss, and following up their upset of South Carolina with a dominant performance against Georgia State. The Mountaineers sit a full game ahead of second place Georgia Southern, and barring a complete collapse by the Men of the Mountains should play for yet another Sun Belt Championship.

Will their two Power Five victories be enough to get them to the Cotton Bowl with their one conference loss? Every member of Mountaineer nation better buy some Carolina blue and hope the Tar Heels get bowl eligible.

The Mustangs need some assistance. Namely from the Cincinnati Bearcats. They need the Bearcats to defeat the Memphis Tigers in their season finale to get into the AAC Championship game. If the Bearcats win, SMU is out of the championship. If that’s the case, we applaud the Mustangs and head coach Sonny Dykes for the job he’s done with the Southern Methodist program this year. The Mustangs were off this week, and look to continue their winning ways against the Naval Academy who looks to play spoiler against the Mustangs.

Boise State had the week off — the Broncos played New Mexico. That brings their winning streak to three games since their loss to BYU. The Broncos not only need to win out, they need to make a few statements. Their loss to BYU sticks out like a sore thumb, and they don’t have a lot as far as their schedule. The Florida State win does look better, but close wins against Marshall, San Jose State and Wyoming don’t look so great.

Boise’s going to need a lot of help from a competitive AAC in order to find themselves in the New Year’s Six. It’s equally difficult for the Broncos when they’ve had to shuffle quarterbacks this season as well.
