So the diner was closed. They were all out of Pitt Specials. Apparently they were all out of offense as well as the Panthers were shut out 28-0 by Virginia Tech. Sitting at seven wins, they have one more game left this season when they host the Boston College Eagles. That would give them the opportunity to get to eight wins. That’s Pat Narduzzi’s high-water mark at Pitt. That makes you wonder. If Mark Dantonio steps down at Michigan State, does that make Narduzzi the front-runner in East Lansing? If so, who takes the Pitt job?

No matter what happens the rest of this season, Wake Forest has had a good year. They, like Duke, have sustained some notable injuries — most notably, their most significant being wide receiver Sage Surratt. Despite the Surratt injury, there’s a lot to play for. They end their season against Syracuse, and nine wins. That might lead to an Orange Bowl bid, and the possibility of a 10-win season. If that happens, the Wake Forest administration might have to pony up to keep head coach Dave Clawson.

Senior night was very good for first-year head coach Scott Satterfield and the Louisville Cardinals. They decimated the Syracuse Orange 56-34 in their last home game of the season. Both quarterback Micale Cunningham and Javian Hawkins shined in a big way on senior night as well. The only thing that can top off this season for the Cardinals is a win against their in-state rival Kentucky.

What Satterfield has done this season in Louisville with this team is nothing short of magnificent. The football program was an absolute mess after Bobby Petrino left. That culture was absolutely toxic when he got there and he’s turning things around.
