Oregon Football: 3 takeaways from Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin
3. Oregon’s defense came up clutch
Oregon’s defense was the key component to this victory by making the big plays when it mattered the most. Led by guys like Brady Breeze who was all over the field and forced the fumble that changed the game. Kayvon Thibodeaux also played well and led a front-seven that played with high physicality and great energy.
Oregon was just the third team all season long to hold Jonathan Taylor to under 100 yards, and did a great job limiting his great explosiveness.
If you see a 4-1 turnover margin, you would think the game is a blowout. However Oregon’s offense struggled with Wisconsin’s front-seven that put the pressure on Justin Herbert all night long.
What they did well was capitalize on the turnovers created by the defense that put them in Wisconsin territory three times. Herbert’s stats were not eye-popping, however the three rushing touchdowns showed the type of mobility he has and definitely will help raise his draft stock.
