3. LSU offers opening day opportunity for D’Eriq King

The most important thing for D’Eriq King when choosing a new school will be the opportunity to be the day one starter. That would either be at a school who have struggled offensively with their current quarterback, or one looking to replace an NFL Draft bound quarterback.

Like LSU for example.

King has a very good chance of walking into Baton Rouge and being the starter when the 2020 College Football season comes around.

It’s likely that the Tigers will have four quarterbacks who are vying for the starting job over the spring. However, there is limited experience in the group. They have Peter Parrish, a four-star freshman this season who will enter his second year without having seen any game time. They added four-star recruit Max Johnson and three-star T.J. Finley in this recruiting cycle and whilst there is excitement about the two, it’s unlikely they would beat out King in a quarterback competition.

Which leaves Myles Brennan.

Brennan was the presumptive starter when Joe Burrow transferred to LSU from Ohio State. Up until the start of the 2018 season, the two were in a close battle to start but Burrow won out.

Since then, he has had limited opportunity to get snaps in games where the outcome had been settled long before his appearance on the field.

In 15 appearances for LSU, Brennan has a 60% completion percentage, thrown for 600 yards, with two touchdowns and three interceptions to his name.

If King chooses LSU, Brennan would likely find himself on the losing end of a quarterback battle with a transfer for the second time in his career.
