2. Kyle Trask’s emergence

If you had asked me before the season who would be the replacement for Feleipe Franks if he were to go down with an injury or be benched, I would have said Emory Jones and wouldn’t have hesitated in the slightest.

Clearly I was wrong.

While Jones may still have a bright future in Gainesville and he believes that he can compete for the No. 1 job still, Kyle Trask won everyone over with his performance in 2019.

If you weren’t shocked with Trask’s emergence not only as the replacement for Franks but the reason he decided to enter the transfer portal, you probably have never been surprised in your life. He came out of high school as a two-star recruit and was buried on the depth chart until he got his chance this season. He didn’t disappoint, passing for 2,941 yards and 25 touchdowns with only seven interceptions — and you have to realize he didn’t play for 2.5 games.

Trask led the Gators to the Orange Bowl after leading the comeback at Kentucky earlier in the season when Franks went down. He showed a calm presence in the offense and just got the job done.

This kid is a winner and his emergence under center was arguably the most pleasant surprise for Gator fans this season.
