This would be the second massive addition to the backfield this offseason as Zachary Evans decommitted from Georgia recently. He opened up his recruitment again and that could mean a program like Florida could scoop him up as the Gators will need some help with Lamical Perine graduating.

Florida added former five-star running back Lorenzo Lingard earlier this offseason as he announced his transfer from Miami to be closer to his family. That was a big-time move and it means that Florida may not have a dire need in the backfield anymore, but Evans could complement him and form a deadly one-two punch.

There’s no telling where Evans will end up right now, though.

According to 247Sports, the No. 9 recruit in the nation is looking closely at Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Florida and most recently took a visit to Oxford to check out the Rebels. There’s talk of him heading to Gainesville on Jan. 31 which is right before signing day. That would be massive since it’s the last visit before he makes a decision.

Evans is one of the top remaining uncommitted prospects and he’d be a perfect fit in Florida’s 2020 class.
