In my opinion, this is the biggest remaining target for the Gators, even more impactful than signing Zachary Evans who may not have an immediate impact with Lorenzo Lingard coming in.

Speaking of Lingard, Avantae Williams is actually the former five-star running back’s cousin and his decision to transfer to Florida may have an impact on his decision come National Signing Day. The safety could decide to join his cousin in Gainesville and join one of the best programs in the SEC which happens to be on the rise.

Williams is the No. 54 player in the nation and second-best safety, according to 247Sports. He’s the 11th-best recruit from the state of Florida and would be a major win over Georgia and in-state rival Miami.

Florida’s defensive backfield has been elite for years so this wouldn’t be a surprise if the Gators landed him but it’s also important that they do.

Williams is fresh off a visit with the Hurricanes on Jan. 17 and is planning a trip to Gainesville on Jan. 24 which could have a major impact on his decision.
