The defensive tackle position, like defensive end, may have some vacancies this coming season with Adam Shuler gone and Kyree Campbell entering his final season in Gainesville. On top of that, Luke Ancrum is gone and both Marlon Dunlap Jr. and Tedarrell Slaton are entering their final seasons in Gator uniforms as well.

The line is about to open up and that could mean the highest-rated player in the Gators’ 2020 class could, and should, see some early playing time.

As a five-star, Gervon Dexter is the only incoming freshman ranked in the top-60 in this year’s Florida recruiting class and even though he’s not enrolled early, he will have an immediate impact over the summer. All you have to do is look at his film where he bullies through opposing offensive lines and has a multitude of moves to get into the backfield to realize he’s worthy of early snaps.

Dexter also has a tremendous frame at 6-foot-6.5 and 286 pounds. He can use that weight effectively to wreak havoc in the opposing backfield.
