Thaddeus Moss, the son of NFL legend Randy Moss, decided to forgo his senior season to enter the NFL draft following the national championship and he’ll be leaving a major void at tight end.

Stephen Sullivan is also gone and Tory Carter is the only tight end in the first three spots on the depth chart returning and he’ll be a senior. Luckily, LSU has a future all-everything target at tight end in Arik Gilbert from Marietta, Ga., coming in.

Gilbert is the No. 1 tight end in the 2020 class and is the Tigers’ top-rated signee as well. He’s the No. 5 prospect in the class and 247Sports‘ Barton Simmons compared him to Mark Andrews and stated that he has future first-round talent. With a 6-5, 253-pound frame, 34.6-inch vertical and 4.73 40-yard dash time, it’d be hard to argue that.

Joe Burrow is gone so whoever the Tigers start at quarterback for the upcoming season will have a massive tight end target to rely on. He’s also an early enrollee so he should have the playbook down when the calendar flips to August.

Gilbert is he next star tight end in the college football ranks and I would be that he’s a starter by the end of the season and a major contributor on a reloaded offense.
