Florida Football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2020
Eastern Washington has been one of the better FCS teams over the years, but the Eagles finished just third in the Big Sky last season and got smacked around by the only Power Five team (Washington) they faced, 47-14.
While I’m not expecting the Eagles to just roll over here in the season opener, Florida isn’t going to have much of a problem torching them. I’m predicting a Lorenzo Lingard waiver to be approved by the NCAA which means the Gators’ offense just got even scarier and it’ll get a nice warm-up battle in Week 1 before SEC play starts in Week 2.
Final Score: Eastern Washington 10, Florida 42 (1-0)
A couple of years ago, Kentucky ended a long drought of wins in the series and it was Dan Mullen’s first real “oh no” moment as head coach. His team looked destined for back-to-back losses last season to the Wildcats after losing Feleipe Franks in the middle of the game and inserting an unproven Kyle Trask.
It turns out that Trask would force Franks to transfer because of his stellar play as the Gators’ starter, and it all started with that game against Kentucky where he led the team back to victory.
Trask will once again have a solid showing against the Wildcats who are losing do-everything athlete Lynn Bowden and may not have a completely healthy quarterback to start the season.
Final Score: Kentucky 17, Florida 28 (2-0, 1-0 SEC)
