Les Miles and the Kansas Jayhawks are looking for talent and depth. More specifically, they want guys who can challenge existing veteran players for snaps and possibly starting positions.

Though they were 3-9 last season, they gave Texas all they could handle and won a road game against a Power Five opponent for the first time in a long time. The second half of their season went bad primarily because they were fatigued by the time they played Oklahoma State in November.

When you give up 36 points a game, it is obvious where you need the most help: defense.

The Jayhawks need depth and size up front. At 6-3 and 336 pounds, Keenan Caldwell is going to play this season in Lawrence. Even if he doesn’t start — and he just might — he’s going to get snaps in a rotational situation.

Caldwell gives you two simple things the Kansas Jayhawks need; he is big and strong. Even at 336 pounds, with Kansas’ 3-4 defense he can play either nose or end. He’s going to be a force for the Jayhawks.
