No. 9 Oklahoma State vs. No. 15 Georgia

Sadly, I could not find this game on YouTube or anywhere else. It was surprising to me that someone from Oklahoma State did not post the game as it was such a huge contest for the Cowboys. It was the highest preseason ranking the Pokes ever had in their history and were coming off a stellar 9-3 season. More than just that, the Georgia Bulldogs were into town, who had won double-digit games in 2008.

Luckily, box scores are still available and some (low quality and OSU favored) highlights are still out there.

The first thing that pops out is the elite level wide receivers playing, with AJ Green still at Georgia and Dez Bryant at Oklahoma State. One had a significantly better day than the other, as Bryant had three catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns. One was a 46-yard bomb from quarterback Zach Robinson, opening up the scoring for the Cowboys. His second came midway through the fourth quarter as it was the icing on the cake for a 24-10 lead.

Green, on the other hand, had more receptions than Bryant with four but had 25 fewer yards with 52. After playing with future No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford in the previous season, transitioning to and clicking with Joe Cox was more than likely not the most seamless transition.

From the perspective of the box score, it seems as if both quarterbacks struggled mightily, both only completing 50 percent of their passes. Luckily for Oklahoma State, they ran the ball better than the Bulldogs, out-gaining them by 77 yards.

The Cowboys won the game in convincing fashion, as Georgia’s second-half possessions were horrible. The 24-10 win was a momentous one for Oklahoma State, as they were more than likely going to jump into the AP top five for the first time in school history the next week.
